Daniel R. Sanchez

Senior Airman Daniel R. Sanchez died September 16, 2010, during combat in Afghanistan.

Daniel Sanchez, age 23, of El Paso, Texas, was an Air Force Special Operations Command combat controller assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squad-ron at Hurlburt Field. He died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom after he was wounded by enemy fire in Oruzgan province. He was later pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at Tarin Kwot, Afghanistan.

“This terrible loss is evidence of the ultimate sacrifice our men in the Air Force Special Operations Command make to protect our country and our way of life,” Major Chris Larkin, commander of the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, said in a statement. “Danny was a fine airman and a valuable member of our close community and he will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies go out to the Sanchez family.”

Daniel Sanchez was assigned to Hurlburt Field in September 2008 after qualifying as a combat controller. He leaves behind no dependents.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Daniel Sanchez is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
