Clinton Springer

U.S. Army Spc. Clinton Springer, age 21, was killed September 24, 2010, in Kabul, Afghanistan, in a non-combative incident.

He grew up in the Cape Cod area. He finished high school in New Hampshire, but is still well known in town, his friend, Terean O’Reilly said. “People are just in shock,” she said.

Clinton Springer was a light infantryman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, N.Y. It was his first tour of duty overseas. The Army said Springer joined up in March 2009 and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in January. He is described as a jokester who lit up a room wherever he went. He was due to come home in November.

Despite his short tenure in the military, Clinton Springer was a decorated soldier. His had earned the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal. He had also completed the Combat Lifesavers Course this year before deploying.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Clinton Springer is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
