The 26-year-old was about six months into his second tour of duty in Afghanistan when he was killed. Bock also spent two tours in Iraq and served in Australia and Indonesia, including aiding the tsunami relief in 2004.
MIchael Bock grew up in Springfield, Nebraska, before moving to Leesburg with his family when he was in high school. His parents said he was an active member of the ROTC at Leesburg High School. He was also a member of the school’s football team in 2000 and 2001.
