Lauren Mohr |
She had just finished her night shift at Barcelona Restaurant in New Haven and was driving home on Interstate 91. At about 12:30 a.m., she witnessed a hit and run accident and pulled over to see if she could be of assistance. She called 911 and was waiting with the victims for help to arrive.
It was reported but not confirmed that Lauren thought that a car was coming towards her and jumped out of the way. Alternatively, she may have slipped on the snow and ice. Tragically, she fell over a concrete wall and off of a bridge. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The hit and run driver has been charged with several offences.
Lauren was a graduate of Sheehan High School in Wallingford and recently received her associate's degree in social work from Middlesex Community College. In the fall, Lauren had planned to continue studying social work at Southern Connecticut State University.
Lauren had served in the Air Force for four years and had trained as a medical technician. She also worked as a temporary aide in the undergraduate admissions
office at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.
