Korean Army - at it again - suffocates two sergeants in a training exercise

South Korean soldier
Two unnamed South Korean soldiers died on September 2, 2014, somewhere in South Korea.

South Korea hides the names of these two men out of shame. They hope that no one will notice these deaths and that it will all be ignored.

The two men were Staff Sergeants in a special forces unit based in Jeungpyeong, about 60 miles southeast of Seoul.

Both men were in their early 20's.

Ten men were involved in a training exercise which was meant to simulate a situation in which they were captured by an enemy and supposedly tortured by that enemy.

The soldiers had hoods placed over their heads and had their hands tied behind their backs.

The trainers realized that something was wrong when one soldier (not the two who died) started screaming and flailing his legs. He couldn't breathe.

The two sergeants suffocated to death. A third soldier was hospitalized but will

survive.

This tragic incident is under investigation.

In April of 2014, a South Korean soldier named Private Yoon, age 23, died in Yeoncheon, South Korea, when he choked to death during a bullying incident. Prior to this incident, he had been waterboarded which is a form of suffocation torture; he had been forced to lick spit off the floor, had been beaten and bruised; and had undergone burning ointments applied to his genitals.

Four soldiers involved in the death of Private Yoon have been charged with murder.

It is unbelievable that the South Korean military establishment kills its own men. They didn't notice that the hoods they used in this "training exercise" were impermeable? They didn't notice that you can't breathe with these hoods on your head?

The South Korean government should hold an inquiry into the actions of its military and their treatment of South Korean soldiers. Those high ranking officers in charge of training should be dishonorably discharged.

Apparently, if you are a South Korean soldier you don't need enemies. South Korea will kill you first.

God save us from those who are supposed to back us up, but who kill us instead.

Pray that these two unnamed Korean Sergeants are in heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
