Nick Schultz |
Nick was a member of the Merriville Police Department in Indiana. He had 1 year and 1 month of service.
Late in the day on September 5, 2014, Patrolman Schultz and other officers were investigating reports that an evicted tenant had moved back into his condo in a suburb of Merriville. The man had been evicted in July of 2014. When officers approached the man, he went on a rampage and started shooting.
Nick was shot once in the head. He was transported to a large medical center in Illinois where he was kept on life support for two days. Tragically he succumbed to his wounds.
The shooter, Michael Hrnciar, age 33, committed suicide at the scene of the incident.
Nick attended Franklin College where he studied criminal justice/sociology. He graduated in 2013. While there he was heavily into football and was the captain of the

Officials at the college describe Nick as a leader, a go-getter, unselfish, hardworking and humble. He was highly respected by his peers.
Friends said that it was Nick's goal to become a law enforcement officer.
The Merriville Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Nick will be forever remembered.
Nick's loved ones are devastated over his senseless and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.
Nick is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. They are killing us, Father.
