Giuseppe La Rosa - Italian Military

Captain Giuseppe La Rosa, age 31, died in the line of duty on June 8, 2013, in western Afghanistan.

He was killed when an insurgent threw an explosive device at the Italian convoy returning to base.

He was a member of the Third Bersaglieri Regiment. He had previously served in Kosovo. This was his second deployment to Afghanistan.

He was born in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Messina, Sicily. He had graduated in Political Science at the University of Turin.

Military officials describe Giuseppe as a very strong-willed man, cheerful, generous and determined.

Military comrades describe him as a man of honour.

Friends describe him as a man with great values, always playful and friendly towards

Angels of God, pray for Giuseppe

others. He loved his family, his friends and his work.

Giuseppe is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother and father and two brothers.

Thank you for your service to Italy, Giuseppe. 

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Giuseppe.

Pray that Giuseppe is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
