Pamela Devitt - bitten to death by Pit Bulls in California

Pamela Devitt
Pamela Devitt, age 63, died on May 9, 2013, in Littlerock, California.

She was bitten to death by a pack of Pit Bull dogs as she walked on the road.

A passing driver saw pit bulls attacking Pamela, called 911 and honked her horn to try to get the dogs to stop.

The first deputy at the scene of the attack found Pamela on the ground and saw a dog. The deputy chased the dog but it turned on him, so he fired a shot toward the dog, which then ran. The deputy continued his pursuit, the dog again turned in an aggressive manner, and the deputy fired another shot. The dog eventually fled into the desert.

It is undetermined at the time of this posting how many dogs attacked Pamela, but it is believed to be four.  It is undetermined at the time of this posting who the dogs belong to.

However, 6 Pit Bull dogs and 2 other dogs belonging to a man in the area have been taken into custody. The man was arrested on suspicion of running a marijuana grow operation.

People living in the vicinity of the grow op house say that the dogs living there hop their fences and attack people who are passing including people passing on horseback.  It is not uncommon everywhere for marijuana grow operators to have guard dogs on the premises.

I'm a Pit Bull.  Can I lick your face?
The County's Animal Control Director, Marcia Mayeda, said that her Agency will seek to have any dogs involved in the attack destroyed. The seized dogs will be licensed, spayed or neutered and 3 of them (the legal limit) will be returned to the owner and the rest will be placed for adoption. She also said: "The dogs are fine now."

Jesus, all Saints and all Angels, pray for us. The dogs are fine now.  As if this was important to anyone.  The dogs may be put to death, but maybe not. They will get medical care, be returned to their owner, or adopted. Everything is just ducky for the dogs.

Except a woman walking on the road was bitten to death.

God help us when animals are more valuable than human beings.

Just over a month ago, Chloe Mathewson, was bitten to death by dogs at a drug house in New Zealand.

- Any dogs even remotely suspected of attacking Pamela Devitt should be put down immediately.  No questions asked.
- Local authorities should enact legislation banning Pit Bulls in this county.
- Someone should be charged with manslaughter or criminal negligence in connection with this death.

Death by Dog is not acceptable in any civilized country.
Pamela Devitt is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her husband, Ben.

Pray for those who die suddenly and in tragic circumstances. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Let us pray that Pamela is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.

These vicious animals need to be put to death.

vicious dogs, can and do happen in ANY breed. Vicious dogs should be euthanized. It's likely that my comment will not be "approved" because I don't agree with their position.

BTW was the pit bull pictured one of the dogs that killed this poor woman or is it a file photo? If its not one of the dogs ( and I am fairly certain it is not) you using her death as a means to promote your agenda.

The "agenda" is: "Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country."
