Eric Christian - U.S. Military

Staff Sgt. Eric D. Christian, age 39, of Warwick, New York, died on May 4, 2013, while conducting combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

It has been reported that Eric's death was the result of an "insider attack", in which Afghan military or police turn on NATO forces, killing them. It is believed that an Afghani that Eric was training, turned his gun on Eric and shot him.

Eric grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Ramsey High School, where he excelled at football. He joined the Marines in 2003.

Eric had numerous medals from the Military and was serving his fifth tour with the Elite Marine Special Operations Command.

He had been deployed this last time in March of 2013.

Family members stated that after the September 11th tragedy, Eric felt compelled to

serve his country.  They are proud of him and of his service to his country.

Eric had just purchased a home in Wilmington, North Carolina.

He was unmarried and had no children. But he had many loving relatives and friends who will forever miss him.

Eric is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his brothers, Phillip and Mark.
