Zachary Shannon

Spc. Zachary L. Shannon, age 21, of Dunedin, Florida, died on March 11, 2013, of injuries sustained from a helicopter crash in Kandahar, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. He was a Black Hawk crew chief. 

Zachary graduated from Dunedin High School in 2010. He had been a member of the ROTC. 

He joined the Army in August of 2010. This was his first deployment. 

Friends said that he had always wanted to be part of the military. 

Zach loved fishing and his Tampa Bay sports teams. 

High school officials describe him as energetic, dedicated, polite and a prankster.

Family members describe him as unselfish. 

Zachary is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Kim Allison; and 3 brothers. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen. 

Thank you for serving, Zach. 

Let us pray that Zachary is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
