Chris Brown - Firefighter - Illinois

Firefighter Chris Brown, age 39, died in the line of duty on March 5, 2013, on a highway near Hudson, Illinois.

Chris was a career firefighter for the City of Bloomington and a volunteer firefighter with the Hudson Community Fire Protection District. 

At approximately 10:45 p.m., a southbound semi-trailer carrying a load of automobiles lost control and struck three first responder vehicles belonging to the Hudson Community Fire Protection District and the Illinois State Police. Six members of the Hudson Fire Department were injured and transported to Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. At 11:38 p.m., Chris Brown was pronounced deceased by emergency department staff.

Colleagues stated that every day of his life was devoted to saving others and spending time with his family and loved ones. He will be deeply missed.

Chris is survived by many loving friends, colleagues and family members including his wife and his two sons.
