He was assigned to the 178th Engineer Battalion, 412th Theater Engineer Command, Oswego, New York.
Dain graduated in 2001 from Moriah Central School where he played football. He also attended St. Lawrence University in Canton.

He had previously served a tour of duty in Iraq.
Friends describe him as a fine young man who was well liked because he could relate to people of all ages. He was a patriot who wanted to do something for his country. He is also described as a perfect gentleman and an overall good and decent human being.

He was a volunteer firefighter in his hometown and was hailed by his fire department for his life-saving actions in rescuing several stranded residents during severe flooding in August 2011.
Dain is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Brian and Laura Venne.

I pray for you. May peace surround your soul and God encompass you, and your loved ones, with loving arms. I did not know you personally, but I have a little brother up their supporting you as you partake on your final mission. He never officially was able to serve in the military, but I am told that he enlisted. Rest in peace Dain.
