U.S. President Obama and Gay Marriage Rights

Barack Obama - wanting change
U.S. President Barack Obama has declared unequivocal support for gay marriage, becoming the first president to endorse the politically explosive idea and injecting a polarizing issue into the 2012 race for the White House.

This is a good thing as it demonstrates that this world leader has the ability to look to the future and and attempt to change the course of human events, at least in his own country.

Paul Martin - Canadian
Prime Minister - made a change
Americans rant and rail about the gay marriage issue as if the entire world was going to crumble if this legislation is passed.  After this statement by Barack Obama, every redneck from Savannah, Georgia to Nome, Alaska, will state that "the institution of marriage is threatened", Armageddon is coming, that they feel betrayed by the Government, and that they are disgusted, dismayed and peed off.

When same-sex marriage is legal, the world doesn't fall apart. It goes on...and men marry women and raise children and have a family life, just like they always did.  It only affects you, if you are gay.

Most Canadian jurisdictions approved gay marriage in 2003 and 2004 and subsequently the Canadian Parliament approved gay marriage nation-wide in June of 2005. Some other countries that allow gay marriage are Argentina, Belgium, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, and Sweden.

Some of the countries that allow gay civil unions are Brazil, New Zealand, Uruguay, France, England, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Ireland, Switzerland, etc.

The Canadian Prime Minister at the time of the passage of this legislation in Canada was Paul Martin, who eventually stated during the debates over this issue "You can't cherry-pick human rights." And he was right.

This has had entirely no impact on Canadian society other than for those same sex couples who wanted to get married. It was a non-event.
1399 A.D. - Let's evolve
from this.

Let's get into the 21st century, with a view to extending human rights to everyone, everywhere.

God knows that we need to evolve and that we need to change. We need to stop partying like it's 1399 A.D. We are supposed to be past that era.

More importantly, we also need to stop killing each other in war.  We need to stop the carnage. The angels are weeping ceaselessly before God for the dead in our wars.

Pray for peace.  Amen
