Chase Marta

Spc. Chase S. Marta, age 24, of Yuba City, California, died on May 7, 2012, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Chase graduated from Yuba City High School in 2006. He also attended California State University - Channel Islands and Butte College in California.

He enlisted in October of 2010 and had been in Afghanistan for only six weeks. 

Family members stated that they are proud of Chase and of his service to his country. They stated that he wanted to do something right and noble. They also describe him as tender-hearted and responsible.

Friends said that he will be greatly missed.

Chase is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Karyn Stone; his sister, Taylor Marta; and his girlfriend, Taylor Silva. 

Let us pray that Chase Marta is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
