Steve Cox - Firefighter - Utah

Firefighter Steve Cox, age 55, died on August 28, 2011, in Bountiful, Utah.

On August 26, 2011, Steve was on duty performing a fire fighting skills fitness test when he complained of breathing and balance issues and was treated at the scene by colleagues. He died in hospital two days later.

Steve was a member of the South Davis Metro Fire Agency, which provides Emergency and Public services to the cities of Bountiful, Centerville, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Woods Cross and the Unincorporated areas of South Davis County, Utah.

Saint Florian, Patron Saint
of Firefighters, pray for Steve.
He was hired by the South Davis Fire District as a part-time firefighter in 1989. In 1994, he was hired as a full-time firefighter by the district at the title of engineer. Steve Cox was promoted to the position of Fire Marshal for South Davis Fire District in 2000. When Bountiful City Fire and South Davis Fire District merged in 2005, he continued in the role as fire marshal. He was also employed on a part time basis as the fire marshal of Farmington City Fire Department.

Fire Department officials describe Steve as an educated and respected fire marshal who could always be relied upon.

Steve is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife Karen Cox; father Robert D. Cox, two sisters and two brothers. He is also survived by his five children and several grandchildren.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Steve Cox is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
