Anthony was with Company B, 1st battalion of the 279th Infantry, based in the Tulsa area.
He graduated from Chelsea High School in 2005 and attended Rogers State University in Claremore.
Anthony was previously deployed to Afghanistan in 2006-07.
High School officials remember him as a special young man, who was very dependable and who could be relied upon.
Military officials describe him as an exceptional soldier.

Friends describe him as having a zest for life and for his Christian faith. They also stated that he was determined to serve his country.
Anthony is survived by numerous loving family members and friends, including a young son.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Anthony Peterson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
