Kirk A. Owen

Staff Sgt. Kirk A. Owen, age 37, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, died on August 2, 2011, in Paktia province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma National Guard.

Kirk Owen was a full-time employee with the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He previously deployed to Iraq in 2007.

Military officials stated that Kirk was an outstanding non-commissioned officer, dedicated to loyally serving his country and his fellow soldiers. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Kirk A. Owen is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
