He had gone home after the accident and then went to North Shore Hospital when he began to not feel well. It was discovered that he suffered a torn aorta and was admitted to the hospital, where he remained until passing away on July 14th.
Detective Archer has served with the New York City Police Department for 28 years, joining New York City Transit Authority Police Department in 1994 before it merged with NYPD.

He was assigned to the Warrant Division where he worked with the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Sonny is described by friends and co-workers as big in heart, big in courage, big in determination and big in honor. He could always be relied upon.
Sonny Archer is survived by his wife, four children, and his father.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Fermin "Sonny" Archer is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
