First Lt. Thomas Joseph Williams Jr., age 26, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was killed on July 9, 2011, when his OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter went down in Campbell County, Tennessee.He was on a routine training flight, when the helicopter crashed into power lines.

Thomas was with Troop C of the 1/230th Air Cavalry Squadron based at McGhee Tyson.
National Guard officials stated that the loss of Thomas Joseph Williams Jr. was incalculable.
After getting his degree in economics in 2007, Thomas joined the National Guard. He served for three years.
Friends remember Thomas as an ambitious person who loved the military, who loved to fly and who was always willing to help others. Others describe him as kind and sincere.
