Roberto Marchini

Italian Corporal Robert Marchini, age 27, died on July 12, 2011, in the Bakwa District of Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated in the street. 

He was with the 8th Parachute Engineer Regiment based at Legnago. This was his third foreign mission.

He was from the town of Caprarola, Italy. 

Military officials stated that he performed his duties with honor. Friends and neighbors describe Roberto as a simple guy, respectful, honest and fair with everyone and a great worker.

Roberto was unmarried and is survived by numerous loving relatives and friends including his father Francesco, mother Pina and sister Elisa.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Roberto Marchini is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
