Christopher P. Soderlund

Sgt. Christopher P. Soderlund, age 23, of Pineville, Louisiana, died on July 9, 2011, in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with rocket-propelled grenade fire. 

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.

He enlisted in March 2006 and had been stationed at Fort Polk since November 2007. He deployed to Iraq from December 2007 to January 2009.

His awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

In addition to his wife and two children, Christopher is survived by his mother, father and step-father.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Christopher P. Soderlund is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
