Norberto Mendez Hernandez

Lance Cpl. Norberto Mendez Hernandez, age 22, of Logan, Utah, died on July 10, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California.

He leaves behind a wife and two children. This was his first combat deployment since enlisting April 26, 2010.

Military officials describe him as a hard worker who always did as he was told and also stated that he was close to his Marine comrades.

Norberto's personal service awards include the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon, along with a Select Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Nato-ISAF Medal.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Norberto Mendez Hernandez is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
