Ryan J. Larson

Pvt. Ryan J. Larson, age 19, of Friendship, Wisconsin, died on June 15, 2011, at Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Ryan is described as being remembered for his infectious attitude and quiet leadership. Ryan was senior class president before graduating in 2010 from Adams-Friendship High School.

He is described by high school officials as having a quality of quiet leadership, common sense, very personable, a gentleman and quiet natured. 

Ryan joined the Army last June and arrived at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, in October. He was assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright, and was deployed to Afghanistan with his 4,000-soldier brigade in April.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Ryan J. Larson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
