Robert P. Hartwick

Spc. Robert P. Hartwick, age 20, of Rockbridge, Ohio, died on June 6, 2011, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with indirect fire.

He was assigned to the1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.  Robert Hartwick was a combat medic.

Jesus, pray for Robert
Family members stated:  "He was an adventurous guy who always planned for the Army. But although he was a sharpshooter, he wouldn't hunt because he could "never hurt any animal." He is remembered as a giving person who had a "good, strong Christian faith."

Robert joined the Army in June of 2009 after his graduation from Logan High School.  The Army was his chosen career path because he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. He enlisted when he was 17 and had to wait until he turned 18 to begin basic training.

Robert Hartwick departed for Iraq in November on his first deployment. He was scheduled to return in September.  When his active duty was up, he had planned to enroll in college and stay in the Army Reserve for four years. He then wanted to return to the service as an officer.

Besides his parents, Robert is survived by two older sisters.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Robert P. Hartwick is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
