Emilio J. Campo Jr.


Spc. Emilio J. Campo Jr., age 20, of Madelia, Minnesota, died on June 6, 2011, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with indirect fire. 


He was assigned to the1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

He was a medic, who joined the U.S. Army to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. 


Emilio Campo graduated in 2009 from Madelia High School, where he played basketball as his main sport but also participated in track, football and choir.  School officials stated that: "He was a real credit to his family, his school and his community. Every time he was home on leave, he'd come to visit with schoolmates, teachers and staff. He was very proud of what he was doing."


Friends stated that he was a very social person and humorous.


Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Emilio J. Campo Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
