Nicholas J. Alden

Senior Airman Nicholas J. Alden, age 25, of Williamston, South Carolina, died as a result of the March 2, 2011, shooting at the Frankfurt Airport, Germany.

He was assigned to the 48th Security Forces Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

Light a candle for Nicholas
Alden.  Light his way
to heaven.
A Muslim extremist from Albania opened fire on a bus loaded with U.S. airmen on their way from their base in England to serve in Afghanistan.  Nick Alden is thought to have died while trying to stop the gunman from killing any of his comrades on the bus after he witnessed him shooting the driver.

Nick graduated from Palmetto High School in Williamston before enlisting in the Air Force four years ago.

He had served in Iraq for six months and most recently was stationed at Lakenheath airfield in eastern England, training for his coming deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan.

He was married and had a three-year-old daughter, Lilly, and one-year-old son William to his wife Trish. They live in England.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Nicholas Alden is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
