Logan Meyer - a 7 year old boy killed by a dog in Hustisford, Wisconsin

Logan
Logan Meyer, age 7, died on October 24, 2014, at his home in Hustisford, Wisconsin.

Hustisford is a town in Dodge County.

At about 5:20 p.m., Logan was severely bitten by his family's Rottweiler dog. He died at the scene.

This tragic incident will not result in any criminal charges. The dog was trained to be a service dog and not an attack dog. The dog was euthanized.

It has been reported that Logan's family were running or intending to run a "dog protection" business in the area.

Family members are, of course, devastated by this boy's tragic death. He will be forever missed and mourned.

People have to wake up to the reality that large dogs should not be kept in any home in which there are children under the age of 12. Large dogs of any breed can turn on their "family members" for any number of reasons.

This ban should include but should not be limited to these dogs: Pit Bulls and all

related Bull Terrier breeds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Basenjis, Saint Bernards, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Akitas, Boxers, Huskies, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Chows and Malamutes. There are many more obscure large dog breeds which should also be excluded from homes in which there are children.

All of these dog breeds are potentially dangerous. Some of these dog breeds have repeatedly proven that they can kill people both young and old, including people simply passing by. They have killed grown women walking in the hallways of their apartment buildings; they have killed 40 year old men jogging by on a country road; they have killed toddlers playing on the floor.

Any response from viewers to the effect that: "Shucks, I had a large (you fill in the name of the breed), and it was my best friend.", doesn't cut it. You were lucky; tragically others aren't.

Sadly, we have often noticed that in these dog deaths tragedies, so many people come to the defense of the dog and chalk it all up to an unpredictable circumstance.

There has to be adult responsibility in all of this. Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

Logan is playing in the fields of Heaven. God bless this boy. Amen.

Andrea Barringer - a hit and run victim in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

She was attempting to beat traffic and ran across the street. The vehicle that struck her stopped and then sped away at a high rate of speed. Andrea died at the scene.

Andrea was an art therapy student in grad school at Mount Mary College, and had recently gotten engaged. She was with a group of her friends from school at the time of this tragedy.

School officials stated that she was well-liked, and a hard worker. She tried hard.

A 48 year old "suspect" has been arrested in connection with this crime.  No other

details are available as of this posting date.

If you have more information about this crime, please call the Police at (414) 935-7360.

Drivers forget one thing - they are driving a 4,000 pound death machine and the pedestrian has the right of way.  It doesn't matter if the pedestrian is jay-walking, or is crawling across the street or is in a wheelchair and is barely moving across the street. The driver of a vehicle has to be in control of his vehicle and travelling at a reasonable rate of speed.  He has to be able to stop when he sees a pedestrian in the middle of the street.  But tragically, it doesn't happen that way.

Andrea is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her fiancĂ©.

Pray for justice for Andrea.

God save us from the drivers who are drunk and doped up. God save us from the drivers who speed like a bat out of Hell, mowing down everything in their path. They are speeding us to our graves. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Andrea is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
