Marcus and Maryann |
On December 2, 2013, Marcus and his wife, Maryann, were returning to their home in the western part of Rowan County after a Thanksgiving weekend trip. They saw a car stopped near their house, so Marcus dropped off his wife at a neighbor’s home. He returned to his home and asked the men if they needed help. He soon realized that they had broken into his house and called 911. While he was driving from his home, he was shot in the back of the head.
He was transported to the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he fought to live for 2 1/2 weeks. His family removed him from life support when it was clear that he would not recover from his wounds and that his brain was mortally damaged.
Khari McClelland, age 23, of Harmony and Jaylend Turner, age 19, of Statesville, have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with this tragedy.
The robbers stole a couple of second hand computers, some video games and a handgun. And for this they shot a man?
What does it profit a man who gains the whole world and loses his own soul?
Marcus was known as Marco to his family and friends.
He was a member of the Scotch-Irish Fire Department in Woodleaf, North Carolina. He had been a dedicated volunteer firefighters for 6 years.
Fire Department officials describe Marcus as passionate about everything he did,
Jesus, pray for Marcus and for Maryann and for their unborn child |
His family have a strong faith and look forward to their ultimate reunion with Marcus in Heaven.
Marcus is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Maryann, who is expecting their child in February of 2014.
Pray for justice for Marcus.
