Kellye was stabbed in the neck by Steven Brown, age 50, of Long Beach, who is her son-in-law.
Kellye was a teacher at a small private elementary school owned by her mother. She and several teachers and students were at Orizaba Park, across the street from the school, having a "Fun Friday" outing.
She was attacked in front of the children in broad daylight. She was taken to a local medical center where she was pronounced deceased.
It is presumed that the murder occurred because of a dispute between Kellye Taylor and Steven Brown over custody of Steven Brown's four children, who are Kellye's grandchildren. She had custody of these kids and he was disputing it.
Family members are devastated by this tragic crime. They stated that Kellye loved children and enjoyed teaching them.
Kellye is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her mother; her 4 sisters; her three children and her grandchildren.
Pray for justice for Kellye.
