Jantzen was a volunteer member of Oden Ridge Fire and Rescue.
He saw smoke coming from the house behind his own. He called it in, retrieved the tanker truck, and was on the way to the fire when he lost control of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
Jantzen graduated from Hartselle High School in 2003. He enlisted in the Army on his 18th birthday, April 9, 2003.
He was deployed several times to war zones and was severely injured by shrapnel on one occasion. Jantzen received the Purple Heart.
Friends stated that Jantzen was their hero. His firefighter comrades are in mourning.
Jantzen is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Debbie Frazier; his father, Murrell Frazier; his wife and four children.Jantzen graduated from Hartselle High School in 2003. He enlisted in the Army on his 18th birthday, April 9, 2003.
