He was known as Keith Slay to his comrades and friends.
Keith was a member of the Columbus Police Department. He was assigned to a multi-agency drug task force. He was also the unit's helicopter pilot. Thomas had 32 years of service in law enforcement.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., Corporal Slay and another officer were traveling north in an unmarked truck with their lights and siren on and were responding to a call for assistance for another officer. Another vehicle entered their lane and struck their vehicle, and sent it sliding into a utility pole on the driver's side.
Keith was transported to a medical facility where he was pronounced deceased from blunt force trauma.

Police Officials describe Keith as a great guy and a great law enforcement officer.
He is also described as very professional and dedicated to the job.
The Police Department is in mourning. Keith will be greatly missed.
Keith is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
