Stefan Smith - U.S. Military

Sgt. Stefan M. Smith, age 24 of Glennville, Georgia, died on July 23, 2013, in Soltan Kheyl, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Stefan graduate from LaGrange High School in 2008, where he was a star wrestler. He was a police officer in Glensville for a year and a half before joining the Army.

He deployed to Afghanistan in February of 2013. This was his first overseas deployment. He was due to come home in November.

He wanted to get back into law enforcement when he was discharged from the Army.

Friends stated that Stefan loved a challenge and the military seemed a natural fit for
Gabriel, Archangel, who stands
in the presence of God, pray
for Stefan and for his children
who have lost their father
him. He loved his country, his family and his friends. He will be forever missed.

Stefan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother; his wife, Kristi, and their three children, Dewey (age 3), Denver (age 2) and Gracie (age 1).

Thank you for serving, Stefan.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Stefan.

Pray that Stefan is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
