Brandon Prescott - U.S. Military

Spc. Brandon J. Prescott, age 24, of Bend, Oregon, died on May 4, 2013, in Maiwand, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his vehicle struck an enemy improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

He was born in West Covina, California.

Brandon enlisted in the Army in April of 2010 and attended basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

His awards included the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and others. Just weeks ago, Brandon was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor for actions he took during a firefight to save a fellow soldier.

Brandon loved being outdoors. That's what brought him to Oregon in 2008.

He spent two summers working as a wildland firefighter before joining the Army.

Family members stated that Brandon joined the Army because he loved his country. He is their patriot and their hero. He was willing to risk his life to help save others.

Brandon is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents; his twin brother, Aaron; and two younger brothers who are also twins.

Thank you for serving, Brandon.

Let us pray that Brandon is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
