Roger Muchnick Jr.

Lance Corporal Roger Muchnick Jr., age 23, of Fairfield, Connecticut, died in the line of duty, on March 18, 2013, in Hawthorne, Nevada.

Roger was the victim of a mortar shell explosion at an army depot during a training exercise.

He had been a member of the Marines for about three years, had served one tour of duty in Afghanistan and was considering returning to college after his enlistment was up. 

Roger attended Staples High School where he played lacrosse and football. He later played lacrosse at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he studied business.

Family members describe Roger as handsome, vibrant and loving. He will be forever missed. 

Light a candle for Roger.
Light his way to Heaven. 
Friends describe Roger as hard-nosed, physical and skilled. 

Roger is survived by many loving friends and relatives. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.
