Her body was found in a creek near Red Bluff High School, which she attended. She had gone missing on February 26, 2013. She was last seen leaving school early and walking towards the creek.
Red Bluff police have established a tip line for this investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call 530-737-3160 or 530-737-3225.
Friends describe Marysa as a typical teenager who was happy and who loved her family. Friends also describe her as a popular student of the high school who was nice to everyone.

Her family is devastated and in shock over this tragedy.
Marysa is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her mother, Diane Whitmire; her father, Rick Nichols; stepfather, Curtis Whitmire; and several siblings.
God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. Amen.
Pray for justice for Marysa. Amen.
Let us pray that Marysa is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.

How beautiful to see how many Marysa has touched. A light has gone out on this world but a light now burns in Heaven forever. Thank you so much for your prayers it is so hard to understand such a senseless horror as this. My family is close to Marysa's and this has been just devastating to us all. She is in God's hands now free from all suffering. Rest in peace beautiful child!
