Lonnie Nutt - Firefighter - Georgia

Firefighter Lonnie Nutt, age 49, of Kennesaw, Georgia, died in the line of duty on March 7, 2013, in Marietta, Georgia.

Lonnie was a member of the Marietta Fire Department. He had almost 20 years of service. 

Around 4:30 p.m., Lonnie drove Engine 53 to a vehicle wreck a few blocks from Station 3. As the men were assisting with an injured patient, Lonnie fell to the ground with a heart attack.

Firefighters rendered aid to Lonnie until an ambulance arrived. He was transported to a local hospital but could not be revived.

Lonnie began his career with the city in May 1994 and had served as a fire fighter, inspector, investigator and most recently as a firefighter engineer.

Fire Department officials stated that Lonnie was a very good firefighter who was knowledgeable and dependable.

Lonnie is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and daughter. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. Amen.
