Casey Blain - Law Enforcement - Queensland, Australia

Australian Police Officer Casey Blain, age 29, died in the line of duty on March 29, 2013, near Georgetown, Queensland, Australia.

He was a member of the Queensland Police Service. He was also a part-time army reservist soldier.

Casey was conducting a routine patrol about 15 kilometres east of Georgetown when the car he was driving veered off Routh Creek Bridge about 10:30 am. A passing motorist found the officer beneath the bridge inside the upturned vehicle.

The cause of this tragic accident is unknown as of this posting.

Casey grew up in the Mareeba area and graduated from the Townsville Police Academy in 2009. He then went to work for the Mareeba Police District.

Police officials state that Casey was a valued member of the service and his death would be a loss felt by the extended police family.

Colleagues stated that Casey was a popular and well respected officer who performed his duties with passion, integrity and honour.

Others describe him as a nice bloke, a lovely guy, whom everyone liked.

Colleagues said that Casey was about to start work as a school-based officer working with children "to keep them on the straight and narrow".

Casey is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Lena, and their 4 year old son, Mark.
