Tim was a Paramedic for the City of Indianapolis.
On Saturday, February 16, 2013, Tim and another EMT (Cody Medley) were on duty in downtown Indianapolis. Their ambulance was not on an emergency run. Shortly after 3:30 a.m. they were struck by a vehicle at an intersection, which caused the ambulance to flip on its side and slide into an unoccupied parked vehicle, trapping both medics inside. No one else was in the ambulance.
Tim and Cody had the right of way. Both paramedics were wearing seat belts.
Tim was originally from Staten Island, New York. He had attended Regis High School and then St. Lawrence University in upstate Canton, New York.
Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint of Paramedics, pray for Tim |
Tim's family are devastated by his death. They describe him as brilliant, musical, generous with his affection and his many talents. He is also described as a loving son.
Tim was gay and supported the "It Gets Better" movement in support of frightened and suicidal gay teens. He encouraged everyone to be proud of who they were and stated in a video - "keep your head up, keep your spirits up and keep working at whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish".
Tim is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Robert McCormick and his mother.
Thank you for serving, Tim.
Thank you for serving, Tim.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
Pray for all who die young.
Let us pray that Tim McCormick is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
