Cody was a Paramedic for the City of Indianapolis.
On Saturday, February 16, 2013, Cody and another EMT (Tim McCormick) were on duty in downtown Indianapolis. Their ambulance was not on an emergency run. Shortly after 3:30 a.m. they were struck by a vehicle at an intersection, which caused the ambulance to flip on its side and slide into an unoccupied parked vehicle, trapping both medics inside. No one else was in the ambulance.
Cody and Tim had the right of way. Both paramedics were wearing seat belts.

Cody passed away the next day.
Cody was born in Boise, Idaho. He had lived in Washington State before moving to Indiana.
He had previously worked for the nearby Sunman Rural Fire Department. Fire officials there described Cody as a steward of his fellow man.
Officials of the Indianapolis Emergency Services describe him as a skilled paramedic, loyal colleague, and wonderful friend.
Cody is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
Thank you for serving, Cody.
