She was a student at Eastern Michigan University. She lived in an off-campus apartment.
Julia's roommate called police at around 9.30 pm on December 11, 2012, and asked them to check on the young woman after she hadn't been seen for a number of days.
Police arrived at Julia's apartment and found her deceased inside.
Ypsilanti police are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Det/Sgt T.C. Eberts at 734-482-9878 or Crime Stopper at 1-800- SPEAKUP.
Julia worked part time at Wal-Mart. Friends described Julia as a loving, outgoing and kind friend. She was a budding broadcaster who recently toured the NBC studios in New York City.
Friends describe her as the girl with the smile. University friends cried when they heard of Julia's death.

Julia is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her twin sister, Kimberly.
