Anthony Denier

Lance Cpl. Anthony J. Denier, age 26, of Mechanicville, New York, died on December 2, 2012, of injuries sustained while on foot patrol in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Denier graduated from Mechanicville High School and joined the Marine Corps in March of 2011.  He had deployed to Afghanistan in October of 2012.

Family members stated that Anthony always wanted to be a Marine. They are very proud of Anthony and of his service to his country.  He is described as shy until he got to know you.  He described the military as a new chapter in his life. 

Anthony is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Mary Morgan; and his sister, Maria Betts.
