Michael Jones, age 25, from Liverpool, England, died on October 8, 2012, in New York City at about 4:30 a.m.
He was stabbed in the neck and torso and was mutilated by the perpetrator of this crime. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
Michael was a former pupil of Tarleton High School near Southport, Merseyside in England, and played for local football teams Tarleton Corinthians and Hesketh Bank FC. He attended Edge Hill University.
Michael Jones was currently a coach with the New York Red Bulls Youth Training Program. This is a soccer team (called football in England).
Earlier in the evening, he was out with his girlfriend but they parted ways around 11.30 pm.

Police have reviewed surveillance videos and have stated that Michael Jones was arguing with someone just before he was attacked, but it's not clear if they knew each other.
Authorities are searching for a male suspect, described as Hispanic, aged 25 to 30, with a ponytail. If you have information about this crime, please contact the New York Police Department at 1-800-577-8477. You can leave an anonymous message on a recording device.
Red Bulls officials describe Michael as a fantastic coach who loved soccer.
Friends describe him as a great guy, dedicated to what he did, and who was loved by the kids he coached.
