Jeffrey Rice

Pfc. Jeffrey L. Rice, age 24, of Troy, Ohio, died July 19, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. 

The cause of his death has not been released as of this posting. 

He was assigned to the 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas. 

Jeff graduated from Troy High School in 2007. He also attended Piqua Joint Vocational School, now called Upper Valley Career Center, during certain years of his education. 

Jeff was interested in welding and took welding courses at school. He also hoped to gain welding expertise while in the Army.

High school officials describe him as quiet, attentive, hardworking and respectful.

Family members describe Jeff as fun loving and a jokester, loving, sensitive and protective.

They said that he was proud to be a soldier and that they are proud of his service to his country. 

Jeffrey is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Let us pray that Jeffrey Rice is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
