He was assigned to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, 1st Marine Headquarters Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.
This was his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Keaton graduated from Damascus Christian School in 2007 and briefly attended George Fox University before joining the Marines.
High school officials stated that Keaton was polite, respectful, kind and well-liked.
Friends describe him as putting himself out for others.
Keaton was scheduled to be married in July. He had future plans of becoming a firefighter like his father.
Keaton is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Grant and Inger Coffey; and his fiancee, Brittany Dygert.
Let us pray that Keaton Coffey is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
