The cause of his death has not been released as of this date. However family members have stated that he was shot during combat.
He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Allen was a graduate of Noble High School and joined the military after graduation. He joined the Army in September 2004. He was in his second deployment to Afghanistan, which began Sept. 6. His previous deployment was from March 2009 to March 2010.

His decorations included the Army Commendation Medal twice and the Army Achievement Medal.
Family members stated that he loved the military and was determined to serve. They also stated that his children meant everything to him and that everything he did was based around his family.
Allen is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Connie Sams-Mitchell; brother, Bobby Bingenheimer; and his wife and three sons.
Pray that Allen McKenna Jr. is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
