William B. Gross-Paniagua

Sgt. William B. Gross-Paniagua, age 28, of Daly City, California, died on July 31, 2011, in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

He worked one of the most dangerous jobs a soldier can perform, clearing roadside bombs.

He was born in Nicaragua and came to the U.S. when he was 9 years old.  William enlisted in the Army in 2005. At the time of his death he was on his third tour of duty. His first two deployments were to Iraq.

He earned numerous military citations, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Military officials described him as dedicated to his job. Family describe him as a sweet guy whom everyone loved.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that William B. Gross-Paniagua is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
