Waid C. Ramsey

Capt. Waid C. Ramsey, age 41, of Red Bay, Alabama, died on August 4, 2011, in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with small arms fire. 

He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Birmingham, Alabama.

Waid grew up in Red Bay, Alabama, and graduated from high school there in 1988. He joined the U.S. Army after graduating, when he was 18.  His nickname in high school was "Chip". 

Family members describe Waid as a great son and a great father to his children. Family friends said that he was a great dad, great guy and had a great sense of humor.

Waid is survived by numerous loving family members including his wife, Mary, and their children, Bradley Waid, age 7, and Megan Alexandria, age 5.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Waid C. Ramsey is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
