Police Officer Nick Armstrong, age 27, was shot on August 2, 2011, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He succumbed to his wounds on August 7, 2011.

Nick Armstrong and two other officers performed a routine traffic stop regarding four suspicious subjects.
After several minutes a male subject in the group pulled out a concealed handgun and opened fire, striking all three officers before being wounded by return fire. The subject was taken into custody after being wounded.
Officer Armstrong had served with the Rapid City Police Department for two years and had previously served two years with the Spearfish Police Department.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Nick Armstrong is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
