Roger Rice - Law Enforcement - South Carolina

Deputy Sheriff Roger Rice, age 29, was killed in the line of duty on July 13, 2011, in Clinton, South Carolina.

Roger was with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina. He had served with the department for 18 months.

Roger Rice was shot and killed as he and other deputies searched for a murder suspect, who had just murdered his girlfriend. Deputies and officers located the man near his home and as they attempted to take him into custody he opened fire, fatally wounding Deputy Rice.

The suspect was wounded by officers and then taken into custody. 

Roger Rice is survived by his wife and two children.

Law Enforcement officials describe Roger as a dedicated officer who will be missed by his comrades.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Roger Rice is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
