Gareth Bellingham

British Private Gareth Bellingham, age 22, was killed on June 18, 2011, in the southern Nahr-e Saraj district of Afghanistan, when he came under fire and was mortally wounded.

Afghani troops with whom he had developed a genuine affinity tried to save him, but could not.

Gareth is from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England.

His parents Leslie and Suzanne said he died doing the job he loved and that "We are all proud of the job he did; He will be sadly missed by family, friends and all those who knew him. Rest in peace."

Military officials described him as an extremely hard-working and committed warrior who was highly respected by his peers and chain of command alike.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Gareth Bellingham is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
